Pearl Harbor Day
December 7, 2014
“December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy”
Today we remember the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii by Japan. The air attack began at 7:48 a.m. Hawaiian Time.
2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 others were wounded. It severely damaged the Pacific Fleet of the US Navy, and as a result the United States of America entered WWII by declaring war on Japan on December 8, 1941. Until the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, this attack on the United States was the largest attack the country had ever experienced.
If you have the chance, we suggest you visit the USS Arizona War Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and get an up close glimpse into a pivotal moment in American History.
