Providing financial services puts us in the triage room with the business owner, looking for ways to help their business navigate through the troubled times. The lesson we’ve learned from our client’s is that overcoming business obstacles requires more than just a financial boost; it requires a certain ‘Attitude.’ It is an actitud of tenacity, passion, and flexibility that pulls business owners and their teams through tough times.
These traits are something people acquire along the way in life. They are a skill that at first can seem awkward, difficult, futile, and false, but with practice becomes normal. Adversity is the moment to learn and grow the actitud of surviving and thriving. The approaches are fairly simple to describe, but as with all big things, they take constant practice to master.
- Use exercise for physical stress management and to improve sleep. Adrenaline is not your friend. It interferes with big thinking and problem solving. It pumps you up to fight or run from the problem. The stress from big business crisis often feels like anger or panic. Exercise is the way to get all of that calmed down so you can get down to business.
- Experiencia gratitude for the things that are working, no matter how small they are. Take a moment daily to be restored and refreshed by the things that are going well.
- Focus on solutions, not grief, anger, loss over the situation that has caused the turmoil. Quit obsessing on “¿Por qué” and move your thinking into “What now.”
- Finally, get support gente (s) around you each week for each of these things: exercising, brainstorming solutions, and sharing an attitude of gratitude for the simple successes that are all around.
